Officials in Clovis see an uptick of distemper cases among wildlife, citizens encouraged to vaccinate their pets.

Clovis, New Mexico (WIHINMTX)- Officials in Clovis see an uptick in Distemper cases among wildlife. According to High Plains Human Society (HPHS) Facebook page “In the month of March so far, twelve sick foxes have been reported in Clovis. Seven were already deceased when animal control arrived, and five were humanely euthanized. Although most likely distemper, two have been sent off for testing, including one that bit a dog”. The High Planes Human Society is urging citizens of Clovis to get there animals vaccinated and to stay away from wildlife. The HPHS also is urging individuals if you believe that your animal is sick to immediately take it to a vet. HPHS stated if you see a sick animal and that it does not seem to be acting right to stay away and to call the Clovis Animal Control @ (575)-769-7893.
