Portales, NM: Around 2:00 PM Friday, August 05, 2022, Portales Police responded to a bomb threat at the corner of Ave C & 3rd St. Portales police did sucre an area and did evacuate near by homes and businesses. Police did declare the threat not real. Police did allow people to return to there homes and businesses.

On Friday August 5', 2022 at approximately 14:00 hours, Officers responded to the area
of South Avenue C and West 3'' street in reference to a threat of a bomb detonation. Officers set a perimeter around the threatened area and began to ask residences and businesses to evacuate as well. Officers were able to locate the suspect related to this incident with no further escalation. At this time, the threatened area has been determined safe and all businesses can return to normal operations. Those residing in the area may return to their homes. The Portales Police Department thanks the public for their patience and understanding.
