Roswell, NM Police Investigating two separate shootings Friday & Saturday.

Roswell, New Mexico (WIHINM)- According to police Friday, a shooting took place near Roswell High School. According to the Roswell, NM Police Department post on Facebook, a shooting took place by the school at 1:30 PM Friday, the school was placed on lockdown as a precaution. Roswell Police say after a drive by shooting on the 1900 block of S. Pennsylvania Ave. police found a teenage male with a gunshot wound. The victim was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Roswell Police also say the there was never a shooting in or on School campus. Roswell police stated that the suspect then fled law enforcement. The school lockdown was lifted at 1:55 PM.


According to the Chaves County Sheriff's Office Facebook page, a deputies spotted the vehicle, and a chase began. The post also went on to say that the driver was driving erratically, and that's when a P.I.T Maneuver was done, causing the vehicle to roll over. Chaves County Sheriff Mike Herrington said the driver was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital for injuries sustained in the crash. Sheriff Herrington also stated that Roswell, NM Police Department is handling the crash investigation, as well as the shooting investigation.

Roswell Police are investigating a shooting that took place on the corner of N. Washington Ave. and W. 10th Street. Roswell police were dispatched around 1;30 Am for a shooting, according to police when they arrived, they found a 21 -year-old male who had been shot. The victim was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening.

Earlier this afternoon Chaves County Sheriff Deputies located the suspect vehicle involved in a shooting. The Suspect vehicle was driving erratic and was in the area of a school so Chaves County Deputies used a P..I.T. maneuver on the vehicle causing the vehicle to crash out ending the pursuit. The driver was transported to the hospital for injuries related to the Crash. Roswell Police is handling the crash as well as the initial shooting call. Thanks to the NM State Police for their assistance.

UPDATE: 4:30 p.m.


Two male subjects who were apprehended after fleeing from police were initially thought to be the shooting suspects. However, further investigation determined they were not connected to the shooting. It is not yet known why they fled.


The victim of the shooting, a teenage male, suffered a gunshot wound to the arm that is non-life-threatening.

RPD is currently investigating a shooting that happened about 1:30 p.m. near Roswell High School. The shooting was not in the high school and students and staff there are safe. The school has been placed on lockdown as a standard precaution.

The victim of the shooting, a teenage male,

suffered a gunshot wound to the arm that is

non-life-threatening. He was transported to a hospital.


RPD is also investigating a shooting that occurred Saturday, Oct. 29, around 1:30 a.m. in the area of North Washington Avenue and West 10th Street. A gunshot-wound victim, a 21-year-old male, was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
